On the 1st April we will be holding our 2023 Spring Celebration Concert with a mix of light choral, traditional and popular songs, and supported by the excellent and very talented Strictly Celli.
We will be holding the concert in a new venue for us, the Salvation Army Citadel on Woodbridge Road which has lots of space and a big carpark around the back, so we are looking forward to seeing the place packed out with your family and friends!
All the proceeds will be going to support the charity Papyrus which I am sure you will agree is a very worthy cause, in their vital work preventing young suicide in the local community.
Please show your support by phoning Margaret on 07793 889019 to buy your tickets, and we look forward to seeing you there at 7.30pm.

How we started:
The Birkbeck Singers
On 19th January 2011 the Ipswich Institute added 'singing' to their growing repertoire of study classes: Be Bird was appointed as Music tutor and accompanist and 15 recruits tentatively signed up for ‘Sing, Sing a Song’. The course proved to be very popular and numbers increased so that by September, the group was delighted to welcome Ben Groom as their regular piano accompanist. As confidence grew and musical expectations became more adventurous , Be (now Music Director) began to challenge the singers by encouraging public performances for small audiences.
By Easter 2013 the size of the group had more than doubled , and the members voted to adopt the name ‘The Birkbeck Singers’- the name of their regular practice place ‘the Birkbeck Room’ and they developed their own logo:

Sadly, Be’s sudden death on 25th June 2018 marked the passing of an era.
